Welcome to LAMS

Light Academy Model School began as a small, one-room classroom staffed by dedicated volunteer teachers. Today, it has grown into a thriving, multi-level campus serving more than 900 students, offering education from pre-kindergarten through high school, along with vocational training opportunities. We are supported by a team of committed and credentialed teachers whose training ranges from associate degrees to doctoral-level study.

While we have made meaningful progress, our work is far from complete. Continued support is essential to sustain and expand the opportunities we provide. With the partnership of generous donors, we can continue to strengthen our programs, improve our facilities, and invest in the future of every child we serve.

A Message from the Founder

Welcome to Light Academy Model School.

When we first began, we had very little—just a small space, a few children, and a calling from God. We did not have the resources, but we had faith. We believed that if we remained obedient, God would provide a way for us to serve the children of this community.

What started as a simple act of faith has grown into something far greater than we imagined. Today, Light Academy stands as a place of learning, hope, and transformation for hundreds of students. Every classroom, every lesson, and every child represents the faithfulness of God and the generosity of people who chose to believe in this mission.

But while we celebrate how far we have come, we also recognize that the work is not finished.

There are still children who need access to education. There are still needs within our classrooms, our facilities, and our programs. Our vision is not only to educate, but to raise up a generation of young people who know Christ, walk in purpose, and bring change to Liberia and beyond.

This is why partnership matters.

Light Academy exists today because of people who gave, prayed, and stood with us. And it will continue to grow through those who choose to join us in this work. When you support this school, you are not just giving to an institution—you are investing in a child’s future and answering a calling that is bigger than all of us.

We thank God for what He has done, and we trust Him for what is still to come.

With faith and gratitude,
Reverend Dr. Tailey Garley,

Founder, Light Academy Model School

Our Mission

Our mission is to educate and empower children through Christ-centered learning, developing strong character, academic excellence, and a lifelong sense of purpose in God. Changing lives, changing Liberia.

Our Vision & Core Values

Spirituality: We nurture a Christ-centered community where spiritual growth is foundational to academic and personal excellence. Our commitment to prayer, biblical values, and faith in God guides all that we do.
And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus..."

— Colossians 3:17

Service: We live out our faith through service, learning, and love for others. Students and staff don’t just learn about faith—they practice it through kindness, service, and perseverance in difficult circumstances.

“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” — James 2:17

Compassion: We believe every child is created in God’s image and deserves dignity, care, and opportunity.

“Let the little children come to me… for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” — Matthew 19:14

Purpose: We pursue academic excellence and life skills so every student can fulfill God’s purpose for their life. Education is not just survival—it’s preparation for leadership, independence, and impact.

“Train up a child in the way he should go…” — Proverbs 22:6

Community: We grow stronger together through unity, service, and the support of others.

“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.” — Galatians 6:2

Hope: We believe every child has a God-given future filled with hope and possibility.

“For I know the plans I have for you… plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
